The Sundance Film Festival has added a bit of international flavor to their jury pool.
Bong Joon-Ho, director of the monster movie sensation “The Host” and festival circuit hit “Mother,” will head to Park City to join four other yet-to-be-announced members on the Sundance Film Festival jury. Along with his colleagues, he will sift through fifty-eight competition entries, in four categories for a total of thirty awards including the Grand Jury Prize. With a 50% chance of winning, this is better than playing the lottery.
The past few years have seen the Grand Jury Prize for Dramatic Film go on to further awards season accolades with “Frozen River,” “Precious” and “Winter’s Bone” walking away from Utah with the prize under their belts. The Sundance Film Festival runs from January 20-30 and this year will feature a total of 118 films, 92 of which are world premieres. [Korea Times]
