With “Parasite” mere days away from beginning its theatrical run in the US, the latest Bong Joon-ho film is soon to find its way to an eager audience in the States, ready to devour the newest bit of content from the filmmaker.
But even though Bong is one of the more prolific filmmakers around today, many would argue that there’s just not enough output, considering just how great he is. Well, if you’re from Netflix and reading this, get on the phone with the filmmaker now because he’s giving suggestions about what TV series he’d be willing to work on if given the opportunity.
Speaking to Collider, the acclaimed director was asked what TV series he’d want to do a guest directing spot on the most. His answer is none other than Netflix’s “Mindhunter.” And his reasoning for that is fairly obvious, as he explained.
Bong said, “I’m very familiar with the original book because when I was working on ‘Memories of Murder,’ I studied a lot about American serial killers and, of course, that book is written by the first criminal profiler. So it was basically like the bible. I’m very familiar with the serial killers featured in that book, as well.”
He mentioned “Memories of Murder,” and if that film is any indication about what type of story he’d like to tell in “Mindhunter,” we’re sure that every film and TV fan out there would be ecstatic to see that happen. While “Parasite” is currently receiving a ton of hyperbolic reviews, touting it as Bong’s masterpiece, many believe that ‘Memories’ is his best work to date.

And if any series on TV right now is able to give Bong Joon-ho the room to be creative, it would be the David Fincher-produced thriller. Who wouldn’t want to see Bong and Fincher collaborate?
“Parasite” is set to hit theaters on Friday, while the first two seasons of “Mindhunter” are available on Netflix now.
