We’ve seen plenty of time-loop-filled, “Groundhog Day”-esque films. There’s been the horror take with “Happy Death Day.” There’s been the rom-com angle in “Palm Springs.” And now, it appears we’re getting an action-filled take on the classic time-loop concept in the new film, “Boss Level.”

As seen in the trailer for “Boss Level,” Frank Grillo (super underrated, in this writer’s opinion) stars as a man stuck in the aforementioned loop where he is killed in various terrible ways. But he doesn’t care because he’s lost the love of his life and has nothing to live for. But what if he’s able to save his love and break out of the loop? Well, to do so, he’s going to have to learn all sorts of fighting techniques and work his way through the henchmen to reach the top “boss,” Colonel Ventor (Mel Gibson).
In addition to Grillo and Gibson, “Boss Level” stars Naomi Watts, Annabelle Wallis, Ken Jeong, Will Sasso, Selina Lo, Meadow Williams, and Michelle Yeoh. The film comes from veteran action director Joe Carnahan, who is probably best known as the filmmaker behind “The Grey.” He and Grillo have struck up a serious friendship and professional relationship, as the men behind the Warparty production company.
“Boss Level” debuts on Hulu on March 5. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
Trapped in a time loop that constantly repeats the day of his murder, former special forces agent Roy Pulver (Frank Grillo) uncovers clues about a secret government project that could unlock the mystery behind his untimely death. In a race against the clock, Pulver must hunt down Colonel Ventor (Mel Gibson), the powerful head of the government program, while outrunning skilled ruthless assassins determined to keep him from the truth in order to break out of the loop, save his ex-wife (Naomi Watts) and live once again for tomorrow.
