Brad Pitt is rumored to portray legendary actor Steve McQueen in an upcoming biopic, according to Examiner, though they have zero sourcing in their piece whatsoever, but seem to be pretty sure of themselves.
Nicknamed “The King Of Cool,” McQueen tragically passed away with lung cancer at the age of 50 in 1980 after rising to become an iconic anti-hero through his days acting and motor racing.
The upcoming biopic is set to primarily focus on McQueen’s Hollywood career which began in 1956 and examine, among other things, his three marriages including his relationship with Ali McGraw, his off-screen penchant for motorcycles, fast cars and drugs and his battle against lung cancer.
However, if Pitt will actually play the screen legend, well… that remains to be seen. Chalk it up as rumor for now and nothing more, but it’s at least within the realm of possibility.
Michel Cerenzie and Christine Peters will produce the feature which will be based on the recent McQueen biography titled “Steve McQueen: Potrait of an American Rebel.” Shooting is said to begin later this year for a 2010 release. There’s actually two McQueen biopics in the works right now and both are racing to be the first one out of the gate.
