When you think about Bradley Cooper (People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2011), one usually imagines the jerks he’s played in movies (“Wedding Crashers,” “The Hangover” movies) and it’s easy to picture him as a tool in real life. But then you see him in interviews, and he’s a really nice guy. It’s kind of annoying.
Cooper was especially awesome in his recent interview with Empire, where he talked about his reasons for dropping out of “The Crow” and also took out his cell phone to show the interviewer photos from his “Paradise Lost” screen tests with him in his motion capture gear (but as you might guess, it’s hard to see the details through a cell phone).
As for "The Crow," it seems that Cooper hadn’t become too cool to play the dark goth hero, citing the exit of the film's director as his main reason for leaving. “There weren’t really that many ups and downs. We were talking about doing it because of Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who I’m such a massive fan of. And then timing didn’t work out and then he just dropped out of it also, so I don’t know what they’re going to do.”
A pretty honest and reasonable reason from Cooper, who undoubtedly has a lot of other options on the table these days. He's got a busy year ahead with aforementioned Alex Proyas film, the indie "The Words" arriving in Sundance in January and his team up with Sexiest Man Alive competitor Ryan Gosling in "The Place Beneath The Pines." And oh yeah, there's David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" too. Busy, busy man, but as for who will take on "The Crow," that remains to be seen.
