Brian Cox Isn't Worried About Speaking Out In His New Book & Says He's "Too Old & Talented For That Sh*t"

Is there anything better than a Hollywood figure who has amassed so much goodwill and credibility over the span of decades that they can just say whatever the hell they want? We’ve seen it happen with directors such as John Carpenter, who loves to just sit back and talk about collecting paychecks and playing video games. And now, we have Brian Cox, an award-winning actor who has no problem spilling the beans about some other famous folks and doesn’t care if people think it’s out of line. It’s brilliant.

In a new interview with Deadline, Brian Cox, who is beloved amongst fans recently as the foul-mouthed patriarch of “Succession,” opens up about even more stories from his new memoir, “Putting the Rabbit in the Hat.” And if you’re concerned that Cox is being way too honest when talking about people he’s come across over his career, don’t be. Because he’s certainly not worried.

When Cox is asked about the potential blowback he might receive from his tell-all book, the actor gives the best “I’m too old for this shit” response.

“No, no,” said Cox. ”Listen, I’m too old, too tired, and too talented for any of that shit.”

Bravo, Mr. Cox. Good for you! May we all have the confidence one day to say something like that. The world would truly be a more fun place to be.

As mentioned above, it’s not like Cox hasn’t earned the right to be a tad arrogant. The man has been nominated for a number of BAFTAs, Emmys, and Golden Globes. He’s shown up in blockbusters, award-winning prestige films, hugely successful TV shows, and just about everything else you can imagine. And he’s probably earned enough money to say and do whatever he wants.

All that to say, Brian Cox is living the dream and we should all strive for that level of happiness.
