Brian Cox, who starred in Rupert Wyatt’s debut feature “The Escapist,” will re-team with the director for the forthcoming “Planet Of The Apes” reboot “Rise Of The Apes.”
Joining James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow and Andy Serkis, “the origin story deals with the aftermath of man’s experiments with genetic engineering that lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.” Cox will play the heartless owner of a primate sanctuary — which makes you question why he bothered getting into the business in the first place — only to face a revolt led by a chimp named Caesar (Serkis). Franco, Lithgow and Pinto will play the scientists who watch everything go, uh, ape.
Can’t say we care about this project either way, but production should be starting soon as it’s set to hit theaters on June 24, 2011. At any rate, writing this article gives us a chance to post the video below of Cox teaching Shakespeare to a two-year old which is basically the best thing ever.
