“Fast & Furious 10,” aka “Fast 10” is putting together quite the impressive cast. Jason Momoa (“Aquaman“) and Daniela Melchior (“The Suicide Squad“) already nabbed roles in the tenth installment, and now another name from the world of comic book films has been recruited to get behind the wheel.
Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson (“Room“) is the latest high-profile acquisition for the sequel. The face of the franchise, Vin Diesel, made the announcement last night on his official Instagram account (see below) along with a pic of himself cracking up with Larson while welcoming her to the “Fast & Furious” family.
This move shouldn’t be terribly shocking as Larson told Uproxx back in February she is a fan and “100%” wanted a role in a future film.
“Please, please tell everybody I would of course want to be in a “Fast & Furious” movie. I’m obsessed. I love them. I think they’re so good. They’re so fun. And they’ve made me appreciate cars. And it’s something that should be appreciated. They’re incredible. So of course, please,” Larson told Uproxx about her “Fast & Furious” ambitions.
It doesn’t look like the sequel is going to miss Dwayne Johnson too much and there is a good shot that Larson could end up being part of the female spinoff that has been in development at Universal.
Larson’s other upcoming projects include “The Marvels,” a sequel to “Captain Marvel” that is directed by Nia DaCosta (“Candyman“) with a supporting character lineup that consists of Monica Rambeau, Kamala Khan, and Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury. There is an expectation that the cosmic team-up movie has some connections to Disney+ shows like “Ms. Marvel” and the Skrull-focused “Secret Invasion,” it remains to be seen if Larson will appear in those MCU shows.
The actress has also been campaigning for a “Star Wars” role, could that also come together? Only time will tell.
“Fast & Furious 10” is expected to speed into theaters on May 19, 2023.
