You would think given everything we’ve heard about Matthew Vaughn‘s “X-Men: First Class,” the ’60s period details, the tone, the world where it exists, that it just wouldn’t feel right to shoehorn Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine character in these films — especially since you have all new actors playing the same characters, but then Wolverine, because of his mutant powers would have to remain the same actor and well, that would be weird — but fanboys just can’t resist the hope that there’ll be some sort of crossover (the timeline doesn’t even really fit either; in “X-Men Origins: First Class” Wolverine is seen fighting in the ’60s-70s era Vietnam war).
Rumors have leapt over the internet that Jackman would be cameoing in “X-Men: First Class” because some guy spotted him in Georgia, the same location where the new Mutant pic is scheduled to be filming and you know, 2+2=4, right?
But in a recent interview, “X-Men: First Class” producer (and story-by conceptualist) Bryan Singer addressed the Wolverine talk and shot the rumor down.
“He’s not in the movie, he’s in the Wolverine movies,” he told the Geek Files matter of factly. A Fox spokesman adds, “X-Men hasn’t started shooting in Georgia yet and if Hugh was in Georgia, it wasn’t for this movie.”
All’s well that ends well? Yes. See you June 3, 2011, when “X-Men: First Class” hits screens.
