Surprise of the century: The “Burlesque” soundtrack has a ton of tunes from Christina Aguilera and Cher, its two stars. (Plus one for co-star Kristin Bell.) If you’ve somehow managed to dodge reports on this movie and are still, for some reason, interested in it, then here you go: “Burlesque” would seem to represent the point at which Mariah Carey’s vanity project “Glitter” and Baz Luhrmann’s costumed spectacle “Moulin Rougue” meet in some unholy union. It stars Christina as a shrinking violent (natch) employed at former dancer Cher’s LA neo-burlesque club. The show needs a star and, wouldn’t you know it, Christina can sing and stuff, but we hear fame comes with its pressures and inevitable pratfalls, which is a drag.
Apologies for the lack of enthusiasm, but it’s pretty safe to say we’re anticipating this about as much as we would be “Glitter II: The Star Is Still in You.” That said, the soundtrack looks a lot easier to stomach, and maybe the one good thing “Burlesque” will bring is a Christina record more forcefully diva-ish and less GaGa-esque than her recent uneven solo album Bionic.
Anyway, the tracklisting is as follows and the disc hits November 16 via RCA. The movie arrives November 24 and a new-ish 2nd trailer is below as well.
