"In the vein of 'The First Wives Club' but younger." If those words don't scare you, read on….
Cameron Diaz is attached to star in the revenge comedy "The Other Woman" that with a few tweaks could also be called "The David Petraeus Story." Penned by Black List-approved Melissa Stack — who landed on there in 2007 with the colorfully titled "I Want To F— Your Sister" (and has also penned a draft for Seth Gordon's long brewing "King of Kong" feature) — the story follows a woman who realizes she's the other woman and teams up with the philandering man's wife in order to get revenge. And who might join her? Why none other than Kristen Wiig, who is "under consideration."
This sounds pretty much in the wheelhouse of both comic actresses (as long as Diaz doesn't have to do an accent), with both proving they can mix raunch and laughs in equal measure with "Bad Teacher" and "Bridesmaids." No word on a director, so we presume this project at Fox is still developoing. But for the moment, Wiig is busy with "The Skeleton Twins" while Diaz has two films coming up in 2013: "Gambit" with Colin Firth and Ridley Scott's "The Counselor." [The Wrap]
