Canadian R&B Singer Keisha Chante To Play Aaliyah In Upcoming Biopic?

According to reports from BET and Hip-Hop radio station, Hot 97 in New York, Canadian R&B singer Keisha Chante is set to play the late Aaliyah in an upcoming biopic of the singer/actresses life.

A Juno award winner, Chante has some acting experience. She starred as herself in “Cat’s Cradle,” a Canadian indie flick filmed in Edmonton, and had a guest spot on Global TV.

Aaliyah, notoriously known outside her superstar career for being R.Kelly’s underage ex-girlfriend/ex wife (anulled), died in a tragic plane crash in 2001. The Brooklyn-born singer starred in two motion pictures, “Romeo Must Die” and “Queen of the Damned” before her death.

No word on when filming will begin, but we’d wait for trade confirmation before we totally believed this project had a green light. Hot 97 likes to jump the gun.
