Later this year, Carey Mulligan will undoubtedly be part of the awards season campaign for Dee Rees‘ Sundance hit “Mudbound,” but until then, the actress is keeping busy. She’s lined up the BBC limited series “Collateral,” and now, she’s getting ready to experience what it’s like to report on war.
Mulligan will star in and produce “On the Other Side,” which tells the incredible story of Kate Webb, the female war correspondent who was held in captivity during the Vietnam War. Based on the book “On the Other Side: 23 Days with the Vietcong,” “On the Other Side” is the story of one of the great reporters of her generation, Kate Webb, and how she would pave the way for all the female war correspondents that came after her. Surviving fierce battles and 23 days of captivity, she emerges from the jungles of Cambodia armed with one of the most astonishing stories to come out of the Vietnam War.
There’s no director announced yet, but you can sense the Oscar potential of this one already. Cameras will roll in spring 2018.
