All week we’ve been puzzling over Warner Bros.‘ decision to court Mel Gibson to direct “Suicide Squad 2.” Whether or not you like the man himself, he’s shown a pretty clear disdain recently for Hollywood’s blockbuster focus, and generally doesn’t seem too jazzed about comic book movies. However, it appears that Gibson’s interest in the “Suicide Squad” sequel has everything to do with the cast.
According to Variety’s Justin Kroll, Gibson is attracted to working on “Suicide Squad 2” because he’ll get to collaborate with Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Jared Leto (presumably), among others. And one can’t argue with wanting to make a movie with that talent, but doing so at the expense of material you’re actually interested in seems quite the price to pay.
@krolljvar while some might say he said he would never do a comic book movie, heard he is more intrigued by this cast then material

As always, we’ll see how this goes. Even Gibson himself calls the talks at the moment like a “first date,” and I can only imagine that the already beleaguered DC Films aren’t ignoring the fan reaction about his potential involvement. Thoughts? Let us know below.
