Presumably Hollywood’s next hot thing, with "Fifty Shades Of Grey" ready to shackle up audiences next year, Dakota Johnson is probably getting more than a few things crossing her desk. And one of them is "Forever, Interrupted." The actress will star in the adaptation of the Taylor Jenkins Reid novel about "a young woman who elopes after a whirlwind romance and then must face the sudden death of her adoring husband. She must come to terms with his loss while forming an unlikely relationship with his mother — who didn’t know she existed." No word yet on who will write or direct. [The Wrap]
Around The Playlist offices, "The Comedy" is one of our faves, and so we’re pleased to see Rick Alverson moving on a new movie, and it has attracted some exciting folk. John C. Reilly, Michael Cera, Tye Sheridan, Angeliki Papoulia ("Dogtooth"), Dean Stockwell are joining the "Entertainment" which will star Gregg Turkington from the great movie spoof video show "On Cinema." As revealed a few months ago, the movie follows "a broken and aging comic…who travels across the Southwestern United States to meet his estranged daughter while attempting to revive his dwindling career. Along the way, his identity begins to deteriorate amid a series of encounters with the desert populace and a string of dead end shows." Turkington co-wrote the script, and while he’s not known for his movie roles, the actor does plenty of acting and role playing in his standup act via his alter ego, the sweaty and shameless Neil Hamburger. Gary Oldman is going down a "Criminal" road with Kevin Costner. The actor is joining the movie "which centers on a dead CIA operative’s memories, secrets and skills that are implanted into a dangerous prison inmate in hopes that he will stop a diabolical plot." Anna Friel has replaced Chloe Sevigny in "Master Cleanse." The actress joins Johnny Galecki, Anjelica Huston and the newly added Oliver Platt in the film about Paul who decides to "restart his life, joining a spiritual retreat designed to cleanse negative toxins from his body. But things take a turn when Paul and the other participants discover that the cleanse releases something far greater than everyday toxins and traumatic experiences."
