Variety reports that Theron has officially joined the cast for the next installment of the ‘Fast & Furious‘ franchise —it was first reported she was sought for the role earlier this year. Apparently, Theron was still weighing starring in the thriller "The Gray Man," but since that script still needs work (it’s being rewritten for a female lead), she’s doing "Fast 8" first. Of course, the exact nature of her role is being kept under wraps, but it’s expected to be a villain.
Production on the movie starts this summer, with F. Gary Gray (who directed Theron in "The Italian Job") at the helm. It’ll open on April 14, 2017.
