Set photos, by and large, are garbage. They are out of context, feature bad lighting, and don’t have any of the post-processing that makes characters look their best on the big screen. All that being said, sometimes actors just defy logic and look incredible, even in set photos. That’s exactly the case with Charlize Theron and her role as Megyn Kelly in the upcoming Roger Ailes film from director Jay Roach.
In the film, Theron plays the aforementioned Kelly, during her run as the biggest name on Fox News. The film focuses on Fox News head Roger Ailes as he deals with a mountain of controversy stemming from multiple sexual harassment claims from various women at the network. Kelly is said to have a major role in the film, as she was one of those that publicly stood up against Ailes and those working to protect him.

And as you can see in the set pictures, even though they’re out of context, grainy pictures, Theron looks spot-on as the controversial newsperson. Theron has never been one to shy away from using prosthetics or other makeup tricks to resemble a character (see her Oscar-winning performance in “Monster”), but it looks like it’s just a matter of a hairstyle and some makeup that turned her into Kelly. Whatever sorcery that took place, we’re all for it!
Even though Kelly’s time at Fox News seems to be the subject of this upcoming film, if this whole Megyn Kelly-clone thing works out for Theron, there’s plenty of fertile ground to cover in potential sequels. There’s the controversy from when Kelly left Fox News to join NBC and “Today.” There’s also her most recent headline-making faux pas involving a comment about blackface that seems to have doomed Kelly at her new employer, as well. Let’s see how this Roger Ailes movie goes, and then perhaps we can talk about a Megyn Kelly trilogy! That is, if audiences can stomach it.
Joining Theron in the cast of the upcoming film are John Lithgow as the aforementioned Ailes, Malcolm McDowell as Rupert Murdoch, Nicole Kidman as Gretchen Carlson, and Margot Robbie as Kayla Pospisil.
Either way, the Roger Ailes movie has begun filming (despite losing its distributor), and it looks like 2019 looks to feature a pretty great Theron role to add to her illustrious filmography.

I've said it before and I'll say it again… the makeup team, the hairstylist and the costume designer did a fantastic job transforming Charlize Theron into Megyn Kelly. Can't wait to see and hear her as Megyn Kelly. pic.twitter.com/zANIWQvV4h
