Charlize Theron Has Yet To Get A Call From Marvel: "I'm Paving My Own Way...So It's Alright."

At this point, we’ve seen plenty of A-list talent join a Marvel Studios film. Even if they’re not the main heroes of the film, we’ve seen the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, Cate Blanchett, and Tilda Swinton all take on supporting roles, at the very least. But yet, even with her action credentials and Oscar-winning background, Charlize Theron has yet to star in a Marvel film. And according to the actress, that’s not her fault. In fact, if you want to know why she’s never been in a Marvel film, the answer is simple—she hasn’t been asked.

Speaking to Variety, Theron was asked if she’s ever been approached by Disney or Marvel Studios to appear in one of their dozens of superhero features. Apparently, she has yet to appear because she’s never spoken to them about one yet.

“I swear to God. I’ve never gotten anything,” said Theron. “No, I’m not lying to you. But that’s okay. You know what? I am paving my own way. I’m creating my own opportunities. So it’s alright.”

Creating her own opportunities isn’t a joke, either. Not only has she appeared in franchise films like “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “The Fate of the Furious,” but she’s also kickstarted her own potential action franchises with “Atomic Blonde” and the just-released “The Old Guard.” So, even without the Marvel Studios machine working with her, the Oscar-winning actress has become a major blockbuster force anyway.

That being said, it’s a bit crazy to think that Kevin Feige and his Marvel cohorts have yet to discuss a superhero film with the actress. Sure, there are likely some behind-the-scenes contract stipulations that might prevent her from ever appearing, but creatively, there’s absolutely no reason Theron should be left out. As mentioned, she has way more action experience than the aforementioned actresses such as Swinton and Blanchett. And not only that, the Marvel Universe is filled with thousands of characters, with a number of them being perfect fits for Theron.

Alas, it doesn’t appear that Theron will be suiting up for a Marvel film anytime in the near future.
