Charlize Theron Teams With 'John Wick' Directors For 'The Coldest City'

Charlize Theron The Coldest CityAre there any directors hotter at the moment than Chad Stahelski and David Leitch? The duo behind "John Wick" have "Bloodshot" set up over at Sony, are rumored for a DC Comics project, and officially have "John Wick 2" in the works. Now, they’ve got yet another gig brewing, with a big star attached.

Deadline reports that Charlize Theron will star in "The Coldest City," with a movie set up at Focus Features, everything’s raring to go for a fall shoot. Kurt Johnstad (both "300" movies, "Act Of Valor") has adapted the graphic novel by Antony Johnston which is set just before the fall of the Berlin Wall and follows a super spy who springs into action when an MI6 agent is killed. Here’s the book synopsis:

November 1989. Communism is collapsing, and soon the Berlin Wall will come down with it. But before that happens there is one last bit of cloak & dagger to attend to. Two weeks ago, an undercover MI6 officer was killed in Berlin. He was carrying information from a source in the East – a list that allegedly contains the name of every espionage agent working in Berlin, on all sides. No list was found on his body. Now Lorraine Broughton, an experienced spy with no pre-existing ties to Berlin, has been sent into this powderkeg of social unrest, counter-espionage, defections gone bad and secret assassinations to bring back the list and save the lives of the British agents whose identities reside on it.

Stahelski and Leitch taking their stylized action approach to a period setting has me intrigued, but let’s hope more "John Wick" isn’t too far behind.
