We’re just a couple of weeks away from the opening of David Fincher’s adaptation of Gillian Flynn‘s thriller "Gone Girl." But until then, the story behind Amy Dunne’s disappearance and Nick Dunne’s involvement (or not) remains unknown (for people who have not read Flynn’s book) with Fincher once again peering into the facade of domesticity and the pressures of media scrutiny. And as Rosamund Pike reveals, working with Ben Affleck provided a challenge in terms of finding the right tone for each scene.
"We could have really great conversations on set and talk for hours. And then another day, we would barely speak a word. It’s funny. Ben and I would have these scenes that were very giggly and sort of romantic. And then we’d go to this very dark place….I tried to get us out of that," the actress told Glamour. "Neil [Patrick Harris, who plays Amy’s obsessed ex, Desi] was incredible at that. We were in hysterics in the editing room. It was very funny doing [rehearsals for our sex] scene. David left Neil and me alone on that set for like two hours to make sure we could do it. But when it’s just two of you, basically kind of fucking on a bed, it feels so inappropriate."
Meanwhile, the marketing of the film (which includes a new international poster below, via Comme Au Cinema) has taken an interesting turn with an official Pinterest page for the Amy Dunne character having just launched (hat tip to Vanity Fair). It’s a fascinating, organic way to create backstory to the character you might not be able to fit into the film.
