How far would you go to change a wasted life? The comedy “Chick Fight” attempts to answer the question with the help of a few well-known names. This story of women conquering a domain normally reserved for men actually comes from a male perspective. Director Paul Leyden may be better known to audiences through his roles in popular American soap operas, yet he’s built a few credits behind the camera. He is also currently in pre-production on the horror film “Pillowface,” a stark departure from ‘Fight.’

Leyden’s experience proves to be a helpful asset when it comes to Joseph Downey’s script. Downey is a relative newcomer with the short “Batman: Personal Issues” garnering attention after its initial release. ‘Fight’ and ‘Issues’ both show the screenwriter is capable of finding distinct humor in concepts otherwise devoured by their own dramatic potential.  Those themes are also central to making ‘Fight’ a competent choice for genre fare. Men also make their presence known through the dynamic work of actor Alec Baldwin. His role adds an edgy spin to a character and story that could otherwise be brought down by overacting.

The film’s official synopsis:

When Anna Wyncomb is introduced to an underground, all-female fight club in order to turn the mess of her life around, she discovers she is much more personally connected to the history of the club than she could ever imagine.

Kevin Connolly, Bella Thorne, Dulcé Sloan, Dominique Jackson, Kevin Nash, Fortune Feimster, and Alec Mapa also star in “Chick Fight.” The Quiver film arrives in theaters, digitally, and on-demand November 13. Watch the official trailer above.
