'Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina' First Looks Promise A Very Dark Take On Your Favorite Teenage Witch

This ain’t your mom’s “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch!”

We’re pretty sure that’s not going to be the marketing slogan that will accompany the new Netflix series “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” but it really does sum it up quite well, doesn’t it?

The series, which is based on the popular recent reboot of ‘Sabrina’ comic series, comes to Netflix later this year, and as we get closer to the series’ Halloween debut, we have our first look at the horror series. As you might guess if you are a fan of the comic or the incredibly popular teen show from the ‘90s, ‘Sabrina’ follows a young teen witch, being raised by her two witchy Aunts as she deals with the troubles of being a kid and also as someone able to control the dark arts.

There’s a significant amount of hype surrounding ‘Sabrina,’ as it comes from the mind of “Riverdale” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who not only wrote the comic that spawned this new popularity but will also pen the new Netflix series. ‘Sabrina’ was originally to be a sort of “Riverdale” spin-off, as the comics take place in the same universe, however, once Netflix picked up the series, the Archie CW show is no longer linked.

“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” stars Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Richard Coyle, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Abigail Cowen, Lachlan Watson, Bronson Pinchot and Gavin Leatherwood.

The series is scheduled to drop on Netflix on October 26.

Here are a synopsis and the first look pictures:

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.
