Chris Hemsworth To Star In 'Men In Black' Spinoff

Handsome and charismatic, it’s easy to see why there have been a few attempts to franchise the face of Chris Hemsworth outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, projects like the “Ghostbusters” reboot or the ‘Huntsman‘ movies didn’t exactly serve him well. “Thor: Ragnarok” best showed how Hemsworth could combine brawn and laughs, and while you might not like the idea of a “Men In Black” spinoff, he’s a pretty good choice to lead it.

The actor is putting down Thor’s hammer for the moment, and is now in talks to star in the untitled movie. The project had previously been languishing in development, with Sony figuring out what exactly they wanted to do with the property (including a  hybrid between “Men In Black” and “21 Jump Street that never really went anywhere). However, with a release set for next year, everything is now moving fast. F. Gary Gray (“The Fate of the Furious,” “Straight Outta Compton“) is signed up to direct, while “Iron Man” duo Matt Holloway and Art Marcum are writing the script. As for Hemworth’s co-star, the studio is looking for a black female lead (Letitia Wright, please).

The new “Men In Black” movie opens on June 14, 2019. [The Tracking Board]
