Tessa Thompson Confirms Christian Bale Is Breaking Bad In ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’

As the saying goes, you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. After it was reported that Christian Bale was to make his Marvel debut in “Thor: Love and Thunder,” we are now getting confirmation from co-star Tessa Thompson that Bale is playing the villain in the movie.

During an interview with ET Now, Thompson talked about the fourth installment in the “Thor” movie series and revealed the news. “Christian Bale is going to play our villain, which is going to be fantastic,” Thompson said. “I’ve read the script. I can’t tell you much. Lots of exciting text messages exchanged between Natalie [Portman] and I. We’re going to have fun. Taika is writing [and] directing. Some familiar faces. Some new people coming into the mix.”

Thompson is reprising her role as Valkyrie, and when asked about her status as leader of the Asgardian people, she also confirmed that she’s become royalty. “She’s king. If she can’t find her queen, she’ll just be king and queen at the same time.”

Exactly which villain Bale is set to play remains unclear, but given how Marvel Studios plays around with the characters’ origins, you can expect whatever character Bale plays to be a bit different from its comicbook counterpart. Rumors have him play Dario Agger, a Marvel villain who can transform himself into a minotaur and appears in the newer comic series “Mighty Thor” by Jason Aaron, which is reportedly a big influence on “Love and Thunder.”

But there’s also being talks of him playing an intergalactic villain, so if there’s any justice in the world he would be hired to play Beta Ray Bill, an alien that sort of resembles a horse, and though he appears to be a monster, ends up becoming a hero in his own right.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” is scheduled to hit theaters on November 5, 2021, with Taika Waititi returning to write and direct the film which will also bring back Natalie Portman as Jane Foster as a female Thor.
