Christina Applegate Joins Ed Helms For A 'Vacation'

nullWe gotta be honest, despite this movie developing forever, and earning its fair share of chatter, we keep forgetting that a “Vacation” reboot is a real thing that’s actually happening. But yes, New Line‘s reboot/spinoff/sequel/whatever is still real and moving forward.

With Ed Helms boarding last summer, another friendly comic face has arrived with Christina Applegate. Recently bailing from the sinking ship that was the NBC sitcom “Up All Night” (why they wanted to reformat the show with a laugh track, we’ll never understand) she’s currently busy with “Anchorman: The Legend Continues,” but with no network TV commitments, this fits right into her schedule nicely. Anyway, writers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (“Horrible Bosses,” “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone“) are making their feature debut with the story to focus on Rusty Griswold (Helms, sorry Anthony Michael Hall), who goes on a roadtrip with his family leading to hijinx. Applegate will take the role of his “strong-willed wife” which we hope isn’t just another way of saying “shrew” because she is far funnier than that.

No start date yet, but we presume once ‘Anchorman’ wraps, “Vacation” will start packing its bags. [THR]
