Christoph Waltz Says He Won't Be Back As Blofeld

The only two things we know so far about the next Bond is that Daniel Craig is back, and it’s coming out in 2019. Other than that, decisions are still being made and/or details are being kept under a shroud of secrecy, which has become standard for the franchise. But now we know one thing: Christoph Waltz will not be returning.

The actor, who spent much of the lead up to “Spectre” denying he was Blofeld, has revealed that someone else will play the iconic villain (provided the character is returning and/or this just isn’t another long con by Waltz).

“No, I’m sorry. I’m really sad, but that’s the tradition, that there is a new…name. Sorry. I would’ve liked to,” he told Talky Movie.

So, it sounds like Bond will again face Blofeld, who has previously appeared eight times in the franchise, played by Anthony Dawson, Donald Pleasance, Telly Savalas, Charles Grey, John Hollis, Max Von Sydow, and Waltz. I kind of wish they’d move on from the rebooted Blofeld storyline, but let’s hope they have a better narrative here than they did in the tedious “Spectre.”
