Ok, if you’re dying to see Michel Gondry & Seth Rogen’s “The Green Hornet” coming out this December, read no further.
Christoph Waltz was recently interviewed by Superherohype at the Santa Barbara Film Festival this past weekend and revealed a relatively big spoiler about the action buddy comedy (the more you’re invested your are in this picture, the more you’ll think this is big or not). Again, last chance spoiler ahead, though, considering how these movies go, it’s not rocket science and likely won’t preclude your enjoyment of the picture.
So what happens at the end of the picture between Rogen’s Green Hornet character and Waltz’s villain character?
“Well, because he’s a competitor. There’s a misunderstanding between the two of them and they have to sort it out through the course of the movie. They do sort it out through the course of the movie, but unfortunately it happens fatally for one of them and it wasn’t Seth. “
Again, the villain dies in the end of a remake of a pulpy super hero film? Not a major shocker, but there you go.
“The Green Hornet” was written by Rogen and longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg (they penned, “Superbad”) and also co-stars Cameron Diaz, Jay Chou (as Kato), Edward James Olmos, Tom Wilkinson, Tony-Award nominated David Harbour, Edward Furlong and should be done shooting in Los Angeles soon if it’s not complete already. The film was scheduled for a summer 2010 release, but then delayed shooting pushed the film back to December 22. Note, it’s not facing off against “Tron Legacy” anymore which is still set for a December 17 release so geek loyalties won’t need to be divided.
