Logging time with Quentin Tarantino, Tim Burton, Terry Gilliam, Roman Polanski, and currently Sam Mendes, Christoph Waltz has certainly been guided by filmmakers with distinctive voices and visions. It’s good schooling as the actor now ventures behind the camera for his first stab at moviemaking.
Screen Daily reports that Waltz will direct and star in "The Worst Marriage In Georgetown." Based on the New York Magazine article (read it here) by Franklin Foer, and adapted by David Auburn ("Proof," "The Lake House"), the story follows the social climbing Albrect Muth, who ran in some of the most elite circles of American power and influence, but soon ran into trouble when his wealthy wife was found murdered. It’s a meaty role that’s well suited for Waltz’s more flamboyant tendencies, but directing a movie is hard. And directing yourself is even harder.

We’ll likely see how it all comes together next year, as the picture is due to start shooting this fall.
