Many were taken back by the recently reported $200 million budget at director Christopher Nolan’s disposal for his upcoming film “Inception.” Other than its illustrious cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio, it was hard to imagine a film whose protagonist is a “CEO type” with a villain, played by Ken Watanbe, who antagonistic actions involves blackmail would require such extensive financial backing.
According to the folks at Cinema Rewind, “Inception” is currently being thrown around the casting world under the working title of “Oliver’s Arrow” (after Nolan’s second son – the first being Rory from “The Dark Knight’s” working title of “Rory’s First Kiss”). Subsequently, it has been reportedly revealed that the film’s production is set to include a worldwide shoot that includes Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, Paris, Tangiers and Calgary. If true, surely that would explain the healthy size of “Inception’s” budget?
Shooting for the film is set to begin in July when, hopefully, more details surrounding the film may filter out. At this point in time, the only known information about the plot lies in the original logline which reads: “a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.” Along with DiCaprio and Watanbe, “Inception” is also set to star Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine and Tom Hardy.
“Inception” is due to hit theaters July 16th, 2010.
P.S. Imdb may tell you that DiCaprio’s protagonist’s name is Jacob Hastley and that Page’s and Cotillard’s characters are Isabell and Lisa respectively but don’t believe it – these names were part of an April Fool’s Joke from ScriptShadow.
