“Thor 2” is losing one of the Warriors Three, the Hollywood Reporter is reporting. Josh Dallas won’t be reprising his role as Fandral due to his schedule for ABC’s hit fairy tale show, “Once Upon A Time.” Instead, “Chuck” star Zachary Levi is in talks to take over the role that he initially had to turn down when the cult NBC comedy had its season three order extended.
This isn’t the first time that Marvel has had to recast a role for a sequel, as Terrence Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle in “Iron Man 2,” although that was due to Marvel’s infamous frugality as opposed to a scheduling conflict. We’d guess that this change probably won’t make a huge impact on the finished product as the rest of the cast is already locked up to reprise their roles, including Natalie Portman, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins and, of course, Chris Hemsworth.
“Game of Thrones” director Alan Taylor is set to direct with Mads Mikkelsen playing the big baddie in the superhero sequel, which is slated for release on November 15, 2013.
