With “Bioshock” seemingly stuck in development hell, “28 Weeks Later” director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has moved on to his to next project, the English language thriller “Intruders.”
Starring Clive Owen and Daniel Brühl (“Inglourious Basterds”), the film “revolves around an 11-year-old girl who is forced to confront childhood demons.” Obviously, the child actor hasn’t been cast yet, but with a June shoot currently scheduled for London and Madrid we expect the rest of the cast and details on the project will be revealed soon. What is known is that Owen will be playing the girl’s father.
While we haven’t been particularly enamored with Owen’s film choices of late, Fresnadillo has some solid cred behind him, and is a great stylist to boot. And we’re always pleased to see the immensely talented Brühl on screen and this project may provide him his biggest English language audience yet. The script is by Jaime Marques and Nico Casariego, a couple of writers with a few Spanish films to the credit but nothing of note. The film will most likely hit cinemas in 2011.
