CMJ is generally regarded as an (ailing) music festival, but there’s also a film component too (much like there is at any music festival these days.
Running Oct 21-25, CMJ’08 has announced its film festival plans and the biggest news is Kevin Smith will host the New York premiere of his upcoming comedy, “Zack And Miri Make A Porno” which obviously stars Seth Rogen (“Knocked Up,” “Pineapple Express”) and Elizabeth Banks (“The 40 Year Old Virgin,” “W.”) [ed. a film we’ve seen, but one we should probably wait to spit out a proper review of; note it only comes out a few days later on October 30, but if you’re a big Kevin Smith fan…].
The film festival will also include the NYC Premiere of “Johnny Cash: Live at Folsum Prison” (featuring an appearance by John Carter Cash), NY Premieres of “American Swing,” “What About Me?”, “Pressure Cooker,” the U.S. Premiere of “AC/DC: No Bull,” and the Israeli film “For My Father.” Comedy act The Raspberry Brothers will make their debut CMJ appearance at CMJ and badge holders can attend the Broadway rock musical Spring Awakening for CMJ’s first ever theater partnership.
The CMJ press release does not say when these films will premiere, but the fest only runs a few days, so check the CMJ Film Fest site for updates.
