Cole Hauser Joins the Growing List Of Villains In 'A Good Day To Die Hard'

nullThe clock is ticking on "A Good Day To Die Hard," the fifth installment in the "Die Hard" franchise, with director John Moore adding to his cast as he stares down a February 2013 release date. Last month, German actor Sebastian Koch ("The Lives Of Others") and Russian model/actress Yulia Snigir were cast as the sequel's villains, but, a month later, it seems that Moore isn't done casting baddies, adding a third with Cole Hauser ("2 Fast 2 Furious").

The casting of Koch and Snigir seemed perfectly appropriate (if a little low rent and lacking the splash of, say, Jeremy Irons in "Die Hard With a Vengeance"), since the sequel will see John McClane (Bruce Willis) head to Moscow to save his son Jack (Jai Courtney) from whatever he has become involved in there. Apparently, Hauser will be involved in some way, though what exactly his role will be is unknown. According to Deadline, Hauser's character is named Collins, so draw your conclusion from there. So long as he's not yet another cyber-terrorist like Timothy Olyphant was in "Live Free or Die Hard," there's hope.

Speaking of hope, 20th Century Fox CEO Tom Rothman was happy to tell Collider last month that "A Good Day to Die Hard" was a "classic, classic 'Die Hard'" where the McClanes become "the most wanted men in the entire Soviet Union, and it’s the two of them against all of the bad guys." However it's no surprise that the studio head would talk positively about an upcoming project, and there is cause for caution: the sequel was penned by "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" screenwriter Skip Woods and will be directed by Moore, who last offered audiences the uninspired and disappointing "Max Payne." Added to that, Moore has less than a year to complete his cast, shoot and deliver the film, a combination that historically doesn't offer the greatest results. Still, every dog has his day, and we'll wait until the trailer (not to mention the film's February 14, 2013, release date) before we write the sequel off.
