With a plethora of names swirling at the moment for "True Detective" — Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Taylor Kitsch, Elisabeth Moss, Rachel McAdams, Brit Marling, Oona Chaplin, Kelly Reilly, Jessica Biel, Malin Akerman, Jaimie Alexander and Rosario Dawson — none had been officially confirmed by HBO for the second season, until now. Today comes news of the first actor you can bank on appearing, and it’s straight from the source.
Chatting with Sunday World, Farrell stated simply: “I’m doing the second series. I’m so excited.” But even more, he revealed that Nic Pizzolatto is sticking with the same number of episodes for round two, in what sounds like another tightly coiled story.
"I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot," Farrell said. "I know very little about it, but we’re shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids."
As for the plot, it’s said to revolve around a murder set against the backdrop of a transportation deal. The network says season two will be somewhat lighter than the first season, but we reckon that’s probably a very relative scale.
There’s still much more to be confirmed before cameras roll, including the rest of the cast, and the directors who will be joining Justin Lin, who is currently signed up for at least two episodes. Production begins this fall, with "True Detective" scheduled to return to screens next summer. [via Buzzfeed]
