It would seem like by now, Hollywood would have found a way for Colin Firth and Kate Winslet to appear in a movie together. It’s rather remarkable that the haven’t, but that could all be about to change if everything around a developing yacht racing world drama comes together.
Baz Bamigboye reports that Firth and Winset are in early talks to star in a movie about 1960s scandal involving amateur sailor Donald Crowhurst. Penned by Scott Burns, it’ll detail the true life story of Crowhurst’s entry in the 1968 Golden Globe Race, where under-equipped and ill-prepared, he began to lag behind. However, in a bid to keep up appearances, he began lying about his location in radio updates, and slowly went mad and by time the race was over, his vessel was found abandoned, and Crowhurst was nowhere to be found, and presumed dead.
It’s certainly some interesting subject matter, with Firth as Crowhurst and Winslet as his wife Clare, we’d be there. But as of yet, there’s no director on the project and we’d reckon that’ll make the difference in these two teaming up. But until then you can check out a couple movies that were already inspired by story including the 1982 French flick "Les Quarantièmes rugissants" and the 1986 Russian film "Race Of The Century."
