If Pee-Wee Herman (aka Paul Reubens) has his way, that is. Though Herman appeared at Comic-Con International’s massive Hall H on Thursday to share info about his new film with Judd Apatow (and generally charm the crowd), he kept this choice detail for an interview with MTV. There’s no commitment from Bieber — yet — likely because Thursday’s interview was the first time Herman mentioned this, but Bieber reads mtv.com, right?
Herman has plenty of other ideas for cameos, but who won’t be appearing? Twisted Sister. The ’80s favorites made a brief appearance in “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure,” but when a fan in Hall H asked if they’d be in the upcoming production, Herman said, “There’s nothing in the new movie for Twisted Sister in their current incarnation.” Sad.
Reubens was there in character as Herman, but he did share a few details about the Apatow production, even though he’d been told not to talk about it. “The studio is reading it now and making their decision,” he said, wearing one of his “600-800” trademark grey suits and a red bow tie. “It’s a road trip picture, similar in feel to Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.” Actor and screenwriter Paul Rust (“I Love You, Beth Cooper“) is working on the script with him.
When another fan asked Herman what the word of the day was, he replied, “Well, duh. It begins a C and ends with an N: Comic-Con! No, Carmaggedon.”
