Comic-Con '11: 'Twilight' Cast Says Don't Expect Any More Sequels Or Spinoffs

The first day of the San Diego Comic-Con is now in full swing, and it’s starting off with a bang as the cast and filmmakers for the final chapter(s) of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” have gathered to show off some footage and do a Q&A with fans later this afternoon. How devoted are the Twihards? They’ve been lining up for days just to get a peek at what’s to come.

But before Hall H turns into a madhouse, Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Green, Nikki Reed and other stars of the film appeared at a press conference for the film where they revealed that as far as they know, Summit has no plans for further “Twilight” movies and/or spinoffs.”I think Stephenie [Meyer] is done with us,” Elizabeth Reaser, who plays Esme Cullen in the film saga said, referring to the author of the book series.

But if the film series ends, the characters will continue to live on. Ashley Greene may miss playing Alice Cullen, but she ruminates that thanks to the adaptations, “Alice can kind of live on forever.”

Of course, the franchise is veritable money printing machine and the fanbase is rabid, so who knows what will happen down the line. But for now, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1” is the beginning of the end of massively successful film series that made it cool to love vampires and werewolves and more or less spawned the return of those creatures to popular culture. ‘Part 1’ hits on November 18th with Part 2 arriving a year later on November 16, 2012. –reporting by Kimber Myers, image from Thompson On Hollywood.
