Sometimes old rumors are new rumors, and so it goes with "Suicide Squad." Back in January, it was reported that Joe Manganiello ("True Blood," "Magic Mike") was being looked at to play Deathstroke in the Warner Bros./DC movie. And it appears things are inching forward.
According to Cinema Blend "it is an almost certainty that Manganiello has the role" but they also caution that Jason Clarke ("Lawless," "Zero Dark Thirty") is still in the mix too. According to Latino Review, the character will be a pre-villain incarnation with no superpowers, who will be working alongside Onslaught. And oh, one more thing: LR also says Antiphon will be the main villain of the movie.
Meanwhile, even though the reboot isn’t due in cinemas until 2020, apparently Warner Bros. are already looking at candidates to play Hal Jordan. According to LR, Chris Pine is being "floated around" but even they caution it’s unconfirmed. If anything, this news suggests that WB wants the character to pop up Marvel-style somewhere else in the DC-verse first before rolling him into his solo movie. And that sounds about right, and is a familiar page from the Marvel handbook.
Again, these are all rumors so don’t get too excited or upset, but feel free to share your concerns in the comments section.
