Well before the general public went crazy for the fictional African nation of Wakanda, there was another fictional African nation that was most popular—Zamunda. But in the original “Coming to America,” there wasn’t a whole lot of time spent in Zamunda, as the film primarily took place in Queens. Well, for “Coming 2 America,” that’s all changing, as Zamunda gains the spotlight and we have some unprepared Americans trying to adjust to life amongst African royalty.

As seen in the trailer for “Coming 2 America,” the sequel flips the script and focuses on King Akeem’s estranged son who grew up in Queens for the past 30 years. The film then follows the son and his American family as they go to Zamunda and attempt to assimilate with the royal family and Akeem’s wife and children. As you might expect, considering this is the sequel to one of the best comedies of all time, hilarity ensues.
The film stars Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, KiKi Layne, Shari Headley, Wesley Snipes, James Earl Jones, John Amos, Teyana Taylor, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Paul Bates, Nomzamo Mbatha, and Bella Murphy. The film is written by Kenya Barris and Barry W. Blaustein & David Sheffield. Craig Brewer, who recently worked with Murphy on the film “Dolemite is My Name,” is the director.
