Compare Mondo's Cool Poster For Martin Scorsese's 'Taxi Driver' With The Original One Sheets

Not satisfied with simply projecting Martin Scorsese’s seminal “Taxi Driver” at two special screenings on Wednesday, March 20th, Alamo Drafthouse will also be offering patrons at said screenings the opportunity to buy this stunning new Mondo poster designed by Martin Ansin.

Although a lot brighter and (probably vital when the job of a poster is to promote the movie) eye-catching, the original “Taxi Driver” poster had a much simpler design and shows little of none of the scum that Travis Bickle wants to cleanse from the streets in the movie. The black-and-white displayed more of that grime. And this new Mondo poster shows exactly that, with everything on the side of the street Bickle’s walking down appearing warped save for him. It probably wouldn’t have driven anyone to see the movie back in 1976, but we imagine getting a copy of the poster alone will have people turning up to these special screenings next week.

The 4K digital restorations of the movie that Alamo Drafthouse are showing (at 7pm and 10pm) were supervised by Scorsese himself, and if we were in the area we’d definitely be heading down to catch a classic movie on the big screen and try and purchase one of the prints.
