While Kevin Smith is rebooting the property for a TV series on Amazon, nothing quite beats 1984’s “The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension” for pure cult fun. And with the movie now given a fresh airing on Blu-ray thanks to the fine folks at Shout! Factory, there’s no better time to see this oddball gem from the ’80s, and we’ve got some copies for some lucky readers.

Featuring Ellen Barkin, Jeff Goldblum, Christopher Lloyd, and Clancy Brown, it’s Peter Weller who leads the picture as the titular Buckaroo Banzai. With the help of his uniquely qualified team, The Hong Kong Cavaliers, Buckaroo is ready to save the world on a moment’s notice. But after his successful test of the Oscillation Overthruster — a device that allows him to travel through solid matter — he unleashes the threat of “evil, pure and simple from the 8th Dimension”… the alien Red Lectroids, who are led by the deranged dictator Lord John Whorfin (John Lithgow).
