'Cop Out' Soundtrack Hits Feb 23, Features Harold Faltermeyer Score, New Pattie Labelle Track

Kevin Smith may have been booted off a plane for being too rotund, but his consolation prize might be the fact that he did score his dream musician.

Late last year, Smith had hoped to grab venerable ’80s synth-happy composer Harold Faltermeyer to write the score for his upcoming buddy-cop movie “Cop Out,” starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan. Faltermeyer is know for his memorable ‘8os scores and themes for films like, “Fletch,” “Beverly Hills Cop,” and “Top Gun” among many others.

And according to the soundtrack details for “Cop Out” it looks like the tumescent filmmaker got his man. The “Cop Out” soundtrack comes out February 23, features 14 new Faltermeyer instrumental cuts (throwbacks to the ’80s no doubt) and one original Patti LaBelle track called, “Soul Brothers.”

Before he became a composer in his own right, Faltermeyer assisted the great Giorgio Moroder as an arranger for film scores to “Midnight Express,” “American Gigolo” and “Foxes.” He also composed the scores for “Tango & Cash,” “The Running Man” and “Fletch Lives,” but obviously no one remembers those.
