Cosmic New Story Details Emerge For The Wachowskis' Netflix Series ‘Sense8’

After the three-hour thematic tone poem that was “Cloud Atlas,” you could imagine the Wachowskis were close to capping off the “everyone is connected” angle, but in their subsequent shift to television it seems they’ve only begun. Their project “Sense8” first burst onto our radars in 2012, with “Babylon 5” creator J. Michael Straczynski attached and a natural veil of secrecy surrounding it. But after Netflix agreed to release the 10-episode series to its subscribers, we’ve finally got some concrete hints of what to expect later this year.

According to TVLine (via Superhero Hype), the show centers on eight characters worldwide who are brought together by a disturbing vision, while each episode will follow one character across a wide range of locations—the U.K., Seoul, Mumbai, Nairobi, Berlin, Mexico City, San Francisco and Chicago. Comprising the as-yet-unconfirmed lineup is a “closeted Mexican telenovela hunk, an Icelandic party girl, a German safe-cracker, a Korean businesswoman, an African bus driver and a transgender American blogger.”

Meanwhile, the group of “visionaries” is pursued by a mysterious black man named Jonas, as well as his “evil counterpart,” the fantastically named Mr. Whispers. It may seem at this point that Wachowskis are slowly morphing into Alejandro González Iñárritu, but we’re still eager to see what they bring to Netflix’s format-pushing approach. Based off that synopsis though, are you still on-board with the show? Are does it seem another “Flash Forward” in the making? Let us know below.
