'Cosmopolis' Soundtrack Details Revealed, Features 3 New Songs By Metric, Howard Shore Score & More

nullMany fans of David Cronenberg have begun to miss the director's freakier films of the past, with the helmer taking on more sober fare in recent years including "A History Of Violence," "Eastern Promises" and "A Dangerous Method." To be certain, none of those efforts were what you would call mainstream, but they lacked the oddball flavor Cronenberg made his name with. Well, "Cosmopolis" should find the Canadian filmmaker returning to those more surreal efforts of the past, and, naturally, he still has few curveballs to deliver.

As was reported last fall, Canuck indie rockers Metric will be providing some tunes for the film, and the soundtrack details have now arrived revealing not only that they've penned three new songs — "Long To Live," "I Don't Want To Wake Up," "Call Me Home" — but that rapper K'naan has also delivered "Mecca" as well. Intriguingly, composer Howard Shore co-wrote the songs with Metric, while the lyrics for "Mecca" are credited to "Cosmopolis" author Don DeLillo. We're curious to hear the collaborations, and if you want to get a taste, you can listen to samples of the songs right over here.

No release date for the soundtrack yet, but we presume it will be tied into the release of the film, which hits theaters in North America later this summer. Full tracklist below. [Howe Records]
