So flying in to the San Diego Comic-Con and bummed already by what won’t be playing there? Dry those tears with that Sailor Moon costume you were going to wear and buck up, because one massive summer movie is going to be making its splashy premiere at the convention.
As expected, Jon Favreau had something big planned for “Cowboys & Aliens” and tells Hero Complex, “The worldwide premiere of ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ will be at Comic-Con. And not only are we going to premiere it there, we’re going to find a way to include as many of the fans as possible. I feel like they’ve come out for me, they’ve supported me.”
So, are studios afraid of the geek set? Doesn’t seem so. Starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano, Olivia Wilde, Noah Ringer, Walton Goggins, Keith Carradine and Ana de la Reguera and based on the graphic novel of the same name, the film tells the story of a group of Apache Indians and Western settlers in Arizona who must lay their differences aside when an alien spaceship crash lands in their city. Buzz has been growing for the film — most recently thanks to another excellent trailer — and this will certainly be the highlight of SDCC.
Favreau promises more details and surprises to come and we expect most, it not all, the key cast to participate in unveiling the film (smile for the cameras Harrison!). “That’s where it all started, and I want to give back,” Favreau said. “They should have the opportunity to see it first.” And we’re the fans will be giving him a very warm welcome.
“Cowboys & Aliens” opens the week following SDCC on July 29th.
