Craig Gillespie In Talks To Direct 'Pride And Prejudice And Zombies'

The musical chairs continues on the developing “Pride And Prejudice And Zombies.” With David O. Russell and Mike White having previously occupied the directorial slot on the picture and left, yet another name is in contention to take on the picture.

Vulture reports that Craig Gillespie (“Lars And The Real Girl” and the upcoming “Fright Night“) is in talks to direct the film. He’s an interesting choice that seems to fit the kind of director Lionsgate is going for with the project: an auteur who isn’t quite up to the A-list yet, but has credibility and strong sensibilities. We think he would make an excellent choice; he’s no stranger to ambitious material and unlike Mike White before him, he does have experience with effects and genre material now coming fresh of “Fright Night.” It’s an intriguing prospect.

Of course, there is no word yet on casting but we imagine everyone involved is waiting to lock down a director before taking offers out to actors. The material seems primed for success, based on Seth Grahame-Smith‘s best-selling book, which introduces the undead into Jane Austen‘s classic romance. With Hollywood now knee-deep in movies about zombies, Snow White, vampires and more, we imagine the producers want to get this moving sooner rather than later.
