Cult Fave 'Heathers' To Become TV Comedy Anthology Series

HeathersAs we recently detailed at length, nostalgic revivalism is the bread and butter of television studios these days, and we laid more than a few examples to drive the point home. But in case you needed more convincing, here’s yet another movie being put through process of being turned into a TV show.

THR reports that ’80s cult fave "Heathers" will now be an anthology comedy series on TV Land. In this updated version, the high school Heathers will be popular and given something a makover: Heather McNamara will be a black lesbian, Heather is a gender-queer male, while Heather Chandler "has a body like Martha Dumptruck." No word yet on what they’ll do with Veronica and J.D., but the idea is that each season will refresh "Fargo" style with new meanies and a different setting.

The project joins "First Wives Club" in TV Land’s slate of branded/rebooted TV shows, proving there’s no good idea like an old idea.
