Daisy Ridley Confirms 'Rise Of Skywalker' Will Address The Popular "Reylo" Love Affair Between Kylo Ren & Rey

One of the hallmarks of fandom, especially in the digital age, is the idea of fan-fiction. People get so worked up over their favorite films and franchises, they immediately (and furiously) begin speculating and writing their own stories focused on some of the most minuscule things. And in the cast of 2017’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” fans were crazy over the implied attraction between the villainous Kylo Ren and the heroic Rey. Don’t worry, fans, it appears that this love affair will be explored more in the upcoming ‘Rise of Skywalker.’

According to a new interview with Daisy Ridley in EW, the actress confirms that she’s well aware of the fan theories and speculation about “Reylo” (the name given to the romance between Kylo Ren and Rey), and she is curious how fans will react to how it’s dealt with in ‘Rise of Skywalker.’

“It does not bother me, people writing theories,” the actress said. “It’s really fun hearing them. Plus, because I know what’s sort of going to happen, I think it’ll be really interesting to see people’s reaction to [‘Rise of Skywalker’]. Obviously, there’s this whole Reylo thing and some people are very passionate about it, some aren’t.”

She added, “J.J. [Abrams] does deal with [it]. It’s a very complex issue. People talk about toxic relationships and whatever it is. It’s no joke and I think it’s dealt with really well because it’s not skimmed over.”

As was seen with ‘The Last Jedi,’ fans are fiercely loyal, but also a bit fickle. If they don’t enjoy what is being shown in a film, the “Star Wars” faithful will not hesitate to let it be known and turn on a filmmaker in an instant. So, if Abrams doesn’t give Reylo fans the conclusion that they’re hoping for, it’ll be truly interesting to see what happens next.

We’ll find out soon enough, as “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” arrives in theaters on December 20.

Also, EW has a new image from the film, focusing on the mysterious new Star War character Zorri Bliss, played by Keri Russell. Enjoy!
