Back in January, Dakota Fanning was in negotiations to star in “New Moon,” the rushed-into- production sequel to “Twilight,” Stephenie Meyer’s abstinence romance novel about sexually-challenged teenagers and vampires.
EW has now confirmed that Fanning, who is now 15-years-old, will star as Jane, a psycho vampire who cripples people with her mind. Part of a corrupt group who govern all vampires.
In January Fanning made this insightful comment about the books and her then-possible inclusion in the franchise. “I am a very big fan of the books. I read them all and Jane is an interesting part.”
Shooting on “New Moon” starts next month in Vancouver and its due in theaters. New “New Moon” director Chris Weitz better hope that script is in shape. The sequel is supposed to hit theaters November 20, later this year. “Twilight” has grossed $188 million since opening last November. Summit Entertainment are even fast-tracking, the third installment, “Eclipse,” which could be directed by Drew Barrymore and is already set for release, June 30, 2010.
