With all the drama surrounding ‘Bond 25,’ there was already the thought that maybe some higher power just doesn’t want Daniel Craig’s film to get made. Well, if you believe that sort of thing, then we have some news for you.
According to the British outlet The Sun (via Variety), Daniel Craig has reportedly injured himself while sprinting on the set of ‘Bond 25.’ The injury is so severe that the actor was flown out of Jamaica, where the filming was taking place, and has gone to the US for x-rays, halting production on the film. It appears that Craig might have injured his ankle.
As mentioned, this is just another in a long list of issues that ‘Bond 25’ has encountered in its long development and production. Just recently, we reported that there are rumors about the script being in shambles, with Craig and others literally rewriting their scenes the day of shooting. Now, there’s an injury to the film’s star. At what point do you wonder if the production is haunted by the ghost of Ian Fleming?
Jokes aside, depending on the severity of the injury, we could be looking at yet another delay in the release of the film. The production was already cutting it down to the wire, with such a small production window between filming and release next year. That being said, these sorts of spy films have recovered from this sort of issue. The last “Mission: Impossible” film featured star Tom Cruise literally break his foot while doing his own stunts. And that film would go on to be the best of the series.
Overall, you can’t help but giggle a little bit at this latest development. Just when you think the franchise is on the right path, signing a new director (Cary Fukunaga), celebrating the cast at a press event, and officially beginning filming, issues still come to light.
As long as the movie gods will allow it, ‘Bond 25’ should arrive in theaters on April 8, 2020.
